Privacy policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

The short version. We don't collect your personal data. Your journal stays on your device unless you choose to export it or back it up to your own Google Drive. There's no Lueur account, and no analytics, ads, or trackers. We never see what you write.

This policy covers Lueur: One line a day journal and any other apps made by Hearthrealm Studio LLC, an Oregon company ("we"), and this website. If an app ever works differently from what's described here, its store listing and an in-app notice will say so before anything changes.

What our apps store, and where

Everything you put into our apps, including your writing, photos you attach, and your settings, is stored in the app's private storage on your device. None of it is sent to us. There's no server of ours for it to go to.

Lueur works offline. It only goes online for two things: Google Drive backup, if you turn it on, and the App Store or Google Play, to show subscription plans and check whether you have one. Your journal is never part of either, except for the backup you asked for.

If your phone's own backup is turned on (such as iCloud Backup or Google's device backup), your operating system may include app data in that backup. That backup is handled by Apple or Google under their privacy policies, not by us.

Photos

If an app lets you add a photo, it only opens the photo you pick and saves a smaller copy inside the app. That copy leaves out the camera and location details the original may carry. Where your phone requires it, the app will ask for permission first.

Location

Our apps don't ask for or use your location. In Lueur, a place is a word you type.

Reminders

If you set a reminder, your phone schedules it. Nothing about it is sent anywhere.

Exporting

When you export your journal, the app creates a file on your device and opens your phone's share sheet. Where the file goes next is your choice, and whatever app or service you send it to handles it under its own policy.

Google Drive backup

Lueur can back up your journal to your own Google Drive. This is off until you connect your Google account in the app's settings.

  • What Lueur can reach. Lueur asks Google only for permission to create files and to open the files it created (Google calls this drive.file). It can't see, open, or change anything else in your Drive.
  • What it uploads. A backup file holding your lines, the words you tagged them with, your photos, your chapters, and a few of your settings. It's saved in a folder called Lueur backups in your Drive.
  • Your Google email address. Lueur receives it when you connect, so the app can show which account is connected. It's kept only on your device and is never included in a backup.
  • Where it goes. Backups travel directly from your device to your Google Drive. They never pass through us, and we can't see them. Google stores them under Google's privacy policy.
  • Your control. You can turn automatic backup off or disconnect at any time. Your backups stay in your Drive until you delete them, from the app or from Drive. You can also remove Lueur's access in your Google account settings.

Lueur's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't use this information for ads, don't sell it, and don't let anyone read it.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. We never see your payment details. The store tells the app whether you have an active subscription so it can unlock features, and your journal is never part of that exchange. Apple and Google provide us with standard sales reports, such as how many subscriptions were sold in each country, which don't identify you.

What we don't do

  • We don't have accounts of our own or ask you to sign in. Connecting Google is only for Drive backup, and only if you choose it.
  • We don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind, in our apps or on this website.
  • We don't read, scan, or analyze what you write, and there's no AI in Lueur.
  • We don't sell or share personal information, because we don't collect it.

When you email us

If you write to support, we'll have your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply to you and keep it only as long as needed to help.

Email updates

If you email to ask for updates, we keep your email address to send a short note when an app is ready, and use it for nothing else. We don't share it. Ask us to stop at any time and we'll delete it.

This website

This site uses no cookies, analytics, or third-party scripts, and its fonts are hosted here rather than loaded from another service. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security purposes, as described in GitHub's privacy statement.

Children

Our apps aren't directed at children under 13. Because they don't collect personal information, we don't knowingly collect any from children.

Your control

Your journal is in your hands. You can export it at any time, and you can delete it within the app or by deleting the app. Backups you've made, in Google Drive or elsewhere, stay where you put them until you delete them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change ever affects what our apps collect, you'll hear about it in the app before it takes effect.
