About Lueur

What is Lueur?

A journal you write one line in each day. You can add a feeling, what the day was about, where you were, and a photo. Over time the lines become a record you can look back on. Lueur is coming soon to iPhone and Android.

Why only one line?

A line holds up to 150 characters. It's short on purpose. One line is easy to write when you're tired, and a small habit is easier to keep.

What if I miss a day?

Nothing happens. An empty day gets no mark and no warning. You can fill in today and the three days before it at any time, which also keeps your daily streak going. You can turn the streak off in Settings. Filling in an older day comes with Lueur supporter.

Can I change or delete a line?

Yes. Open the line and choose edit. A deleted line waits in Recently deleted, in Settings, for 30 days, so you can bring it back.

Can Lueur remind me to write?

Yes, if you'd like. You can set a reminder when you first open Lueur or later in Settings. Your phone schedules it, so nothing is sent anywhere.

Does Lueur use AI?

No. Nothing reads or analyzes your words. Things like the patterns in your feelings are simple counts done on your phone.

Privacy

Where is my journal stored?

On your phone. There's no Lueur account and no Lueur server. Your journal only leaves your phone when you export it or turn on Google Drive backup.

Can you read my journal?

No. We never receive your lines, your photos, or your backups, so there's nothing for us to read.

Does Lueur know where I am?

No. Lueur never asks for your location. A place is a word you type. When you add a photo, Lueur keeps a copy without the location details your camera may have saved in it.

What does Lueur do with my photos?

It only opens the photo you pick, then keeps a smaller copy inside the app. It doesn't look through your photo library.

The privacy policy has the full details.

Backups

How do I back up my journal?

There are two ways, and you can use both.

  • Export. In Settings, open Export and import. Lueur makes one file with your lines, your photos, and a copy you can read in any text app. You choose where to send it.
  • Google Drive backup. In Settings, open Google Drive backup and connect your Google account. Lueur then keeps a backup in your own Google Drive. It stays off until you turn it on.

What can Lueur see in my Google Drive?

Only the files Lueur makes, kept in a folder called Lueur backups. It can't see anything else in your Drive. Backups go straight from your phone to your Drive, and we never see them.

What happens to my backups if I turn Drive backup off?

They stay in your Drive until you delete them, either from Lueur's Google Drive backup screen or from Drive itself.

I got a new phone. How do I bring my journal over?

Install Lueur and choose to restore on the welcome screen, or later from Settings. You can restore from Google Drive or from a file you exported.

What if I delete the app or lose my phone?

Your journal goes with it, unless you've exported it or backed it up to Drive. We don't keep a copy, so we can't recover it for you. Your phone's own backup, like iCloud Backup, may also include it.

Lueur supporter

Is Lueur free?

Yes. Writing, reading, editing, a photo for each day, reminders, export, and Google Drive backup are all free, with no time limit.

What comes with Lueur supporter?

Lueur supporter is an optional monthly or yearly subscription. It adds more themes, filling in days older than the last three, longer views of your feelings in the Hearth, and more chapters of your own. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

What if I cancel my subscription?

Every line stays, including ones you wrote with supporter features. If you use a supporter theme, your journal goes back to a free one: Lueur asks you to pick which, and remembers your supporter theme in case you come back. The Hearth goes back to its shorter views, and chapters past your first stay readable but stop gathering new lines.

How do I cancel?

On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions. You keep supporter features until the end of the period you've already paid for.

I got a new phone. How do I get my subscription back?

Subscriptions belong to your Apple or Google account. On a new phone signed in to the same account, open Support Lueur in Settings and choose Restore purchases.

Can I move my subscription between iPhone and Android?

No. Each store manages its own purchases, so a subscription bought on one can't move to the other. Your journal can move, though: export it or back it up to Drive, then restore it on the new phone.

How do I ask for a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from. For Apple, use reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, find the purchase in your Play Store order history and request a refund there.
